Derek is probably best known for his portrayal of Jason Voorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th.
Aside from his memorable role as Jason, Mears has appeared in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Predators and Hatchet III. He also co starred in Tommy Wirkola’s brilliant horror comedy Dead Snow 2: Red or Dead (2014) in which he plays the role of Stavarin, the leader of the reanimated Russian zombies.
He has also appeared in many popular TV series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Twin Peaks, and Sleepy Hollow. He also took on the titular role in the DC Universe television series Swamp Thing in 2019.
